Human-Centered AI

Introducing Brainiacz.com

Meet Brainiacz's Learning Lab: free reading, math, science, history and coding games for kids in grades K–5, built on human-centered AI.

Why I Built It

For most of my life, work came first. Every day. Then in 2020 I had a heart transplant, and that changed everything.

Since then I do two things: get better, and give back. Giving back, for me, means putting technology and AI in the hands of people who haven't always had a shot at it. Kids and adults.

Reading is the first door. It opens onto everything else. So I built a place where kids can walk through it.

What Brainiacz Is

Brainiacz's Learning Lab (brainiacz.com) is a free learning site for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. Reading, math, science, history and coding, all built as games.

The guide is Brainiacz, a little robot with a glowing antenna. It reads instructions out loud for kids who can't read yet. It cheers every right answer. When an answer is wrong, it says "try again." No scolding. Ever.

Kids who get made to feel dumb stop trying. I wanted a place where getting it wrong is just part of the game.

It's for parents, teachers, homeschoolers and grandparents. Anyone helping a kid learn. There's a parent dashboard so you can see progress and reading strengths without hovering.

What's Inside

Reading comes first. The phonics games follow the Science of Reading: sounds first, then words, then stories. That's how kids actually learn to read, so that's how it's built.

Here's what kids can do today.

Reading and Writing: phonics games, Word Wizard Tower, interactive stories with vocabulary and comprehension questions, a Book Finder, and a Story Generator.

Math: bake with fractions, count money in Money Town, run a village shop, do colony math.

Science: forecast weather, grow a garden, rescue sea life, invent machines, build monsters.

History and Social Studies: read maps, curate a museum, travel through time to solve history mysteries.

Coding: program a robot through mazes with loops, if-then blocks and debugging.

Kids earn badges and unlock new reading levels as they go. The point is simple: it should feel like play, not homework.

Where AI Fits

I talk a lot about human-centered AI. Brainiacz is me putting that into practice.

AI does three jobs here. It reads aloud. It helps kids find books they'll love. It writes custom stories at the right length and reading level for that kid.

What it doesn't do is replace the grown-up. Parents and teachers set the pace. They cheer the wins. They keep reading fun. The AI is a helper, nothing more.

That's the whole idea. AI is not replacing you. It's amplifying you. That's true at work, and it's true at the kitchen table with a six-year-old.

What's Next

The phonics games go past CVC words next: digraphs, blends, magic e, R-controlled vowels, vowel teams and more. Word Wizard Tower will grow right along with them.

Every child deserves great tools, no matter their background. That's why it's free to start.

So here's my ask. If you've got a kid in K–5, or you teach one, go out brainiacz. Then tell me what works and what doesn't. I read every message.

And if you know a parent or teacher who'd use this, send it their way.
